Hardwood Flooring

Our onsite hardwood flooring operation is unique in that we have the capability to perform every step of the process from beginning to end. We saw the logs into the boards needed with our Wood-Mizer® sawmill. The lumber is then dried to an 8% moisture content in our dehumidification kiln. Once dried, our staff cuts the boards to size and mills them into solid hardwood flooring. By performing all of these steps at Carson's Lumbermill we are able to provide quality custom hardwood flooring for less than many of the engineered floorings found in most retail stores.

Today, hardwood floors are the most common hard surface flooring used in remodeling and new construction. We have also found that many individuals building a new home would like their flooring to be made from the timber on their own property but they have a difficult time locating the resources to accomplish this. We are proud to say that because of our broad range of capabilities, Carson's Lumbermill has assisted several of these homeowners in realizing their dream.

Hardwood floors are competitively priced in comparison to other flooring options and an excellent investment for several reasons. Hardwood floors are a lifetime product rarely needing to be replaced and extremely easy to maintain. The indoor air quality of your home will be dramatically better than if you chose a floor covering such as carpet which is prone to dust mites and mold. Hardwood floors definitely enhance the décor of your residence and will increase the value of your home if you should decide to sell.

There are three main types of hardwood flooring: Solid, Engineered and Acrylic Impregnated. Carson's Lumbermill is dedicated to making only unfinished Solid hardwood flooring which is one piece of wood from top to bottom regardless of the width or length. This allows us to provide a custom, one-of-a-kind hardwood floor to our clients at a competitive price. Usually referred to as plank style, the flooring we make is ¾" thick, tongue and grooved, generally in random widths of 3", 4" and 5". Different widths and thicknesses are available upon requests.

Flooring is not mass-produced at Carson's Lumbermill. We generally do not stock a large quantity of flooring.  We prefer to make it to order so we can take the time to handle and inspect each piece individually before it's ready to go out our door and into yours. Customer Satisfaction is our goal and our aim is to provide you with a quality floor that meets your specifications.

There are many choices when selecting the right floor for the rooms in your home. There are several species, colors, grades and grain variations to consider. Carson's Lumbermill makes solid hardwood flooring from species that are native to our area. Darker colored flooring is typically used in the more formal or traditional interiors. Lighter colors are most frequently used for the country, casual or contemporary settings. Our flooring is unfinished which requires sanding and finishing after installation. One of the benefits of installing unfinished flooring is the opportunity for the homeowner to add their own personal touch. You could leave the wood as its natural color or use a stain that meets your individual tastes as well as enhance your room's furnishings and décor. The sky is the limit when it comes to choices of colors for unfinished flooring.  Some customers have even used different species of flooring in the same room. Maybe something darker around the edges of the room to create a border effect while keeping the center a lighter color. Or some have even painted small murals on the floor or stenciled "Welcome" in their foyer before finishing. These are just some of the options available to you when choosing custom made flooring at Carson's Lumbermill.

You will find that our prices are very competitive. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have or to place an order for your one-of-a-kind custom hardwood flooring.
